Abstract

The paper aims to evaluate the innovations implemented in Czech and Slovak spa enterprises. Data collection was conducted through an electronic questionnaire survey using the Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) method. The findings reveal that spa enterprises introduced various types of innovations during the period 2018–2024, particularly product, technical and technological, organizational, and marketing innovations. The nature of innovations adopted often reflected external circumstances, especially the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Among the reported benefits, economic advantages were most frequently mentioned. The main motivating factors for innovation implementation include increasing the competitiveness of spa enterprises and adopting new technologies. Product innovations are generally perceived as the most beneficial by the surveyed enterprises. Additionally, the study highlights differences in innovation strategies between Czech and Slovak spa enterprises, suggesting that national policies may influence innovation dynamics. The paper contributes to the understanding of how spa enterprises adapt to changing market conditions and external shocks through innovation.
