Abstract
The article discusses the constant need for organizations to undergo technological and management changes to meet the demands of stakeholders and stay competitive. Emphasizing the importance of reducing environmental impacts as an additional value, the content explores the relationship between Lean Manufacturing, focused on waste elimination and green practices, aiming at reducing harmful environmental impacts. The objective is to identify how these approaches can contribute to obtain environmental improvements, especially in supply chains, as well as to highlight a conceptual framework of interconnection of the basic concepts of Lean-Green, which can support its practical implementation in processes inherent to GSCM. The historical perspective of Green Management and Operations is presented, including Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM). The influence of GSCM on green operations management is highlighted, emphasizing integration and coordination to meet environmental requirements. The theoretical framework covers topics such as environmental management, sustainable strategies, Lean, Green Strategies, and sustainability. The compatibility between Lean and Green is underscored, emphasizing practices that contribute to environmental enhancements. The article concludes that Lean Management coupled with Green Management seeks balance among environmental, social, and economic goals. It outlines challenges and opportunities, underscoring the importance of awareness and understanding for sustainable practices. The article suggests expanding studies to other supply chain links and quantitative analyses of financial results associated with GSCM practices.
