Abstract

My essay brings the perspective of a local professional who was involved in the organisation of same events of the Timisoara 2023 ECoC and considers that the local and regional heritage was completely ignored by the drafters of the overall agenda. I hereby make a plea for the most outstanding figures who were absent from the official program although, for most of the local experts, these names represent the core of the cultural identity of this region. The research question was to identify these personalities, and, through a careful examination of their contribution, to find out possible reasons behind their being ignored from the program. The only reasonable explanation is the nationalistic understanding of ECoC anatomy by the main organisers.
