Abstract

Efficient and secure management of Electronic Health Records (EHR) is essential in modern healthcare to enhance patient care while safeguarding data privacy. In this work, a secure healthcare data management system is designed to enable privacy-preserving data sharing and efficient access control using blockchain technology. Current healthcare data systems often lack the flexibility and granular control required for secure data access, especially during emergency situations. To address this, the proposed system integrates blockchain with advanced cryptographic methods, such as Fuzzy Attribute-Based Encryption (Fuzzy ABE) and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), ensuring fine-grained, role-based access. The system is divided into distinct phases for data encryption, metadata handling, emergency access, key retrieval, and audit logging with each phase managed through smart contracts. Blockchain records serve as immutable logs, allowing transparent data access monitoring. The Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) consensus ensures swift agreement across nodes, supporting secure metadata uploads without the risk of malicious alterations. The proposed framework offers a robust solution for secure, flexible, and efficient healthcare data management tailored for emergency access and privacy maintenance.
