Abstract

This chapter explores the multifaceted implications of integrating digital tools and metaverse into events, with a specific focus on the Phygital Sustainability Expo. The metaverse, representing an innovative evolution of the Internet, has significant potential to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), across diverse sectors. Through a conceptual-based observation, this research analyzes the impact of using the metaverse in events on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including partnerships, inclusive education, and climate action. In addition, a predictive approach, using linear interpolation, is utilized to measure how much the metaverse may affect the magnitude of the event in the future. The findings contribute to bridging gaps in the current academic discourse surrounding the metaverse’s intersection with sustainability offering actionable insights for entities navigating this evolving landscape. Limitations include the case study focus and the relatively short dataset time frame, suggesting avenues for future research expansion.
