Abstract
Modern Russian economic transformations are undergoing complex transformational changes, the purpose of which is to build a competitive national economy and identify positive and negative trends in the economic and social effectiveness of transforming measures in society, requiring the definition of priority targets for the economic development of the state. Assessment of the socioeconomic development of Russian regions is the most urgent task of the regional economy. The concept of socioeconomic development implies the increasing dynamics of the economic and social sphere of the Russian subject, which can be measured using various qualitative and quantitative, absolute and relative criteria. The socioeconomic development of Russian subjects is influenced by a large number of different factors. As a result, in order to increase the effectiveness of management decisions and establish growth points and available reserves, a comprehensive assessment of the level of socioeconomic development of Russian regions is necessary. The chapter gives an assessment of the current state of the socioeconomic development of the Republic of Dagestan based on state statistics and calculations of the Ministry of Economy and Territorial Development of the Republic of Dagestan. It is emphasized that in modern economic conditions, the role of regional and local production complexes in the socioeconomic development of the country is increasing dramatically. Priority projects and ways to increase the economic potential of the republic are discussed.
