Abstract

Educational leadership research requires an accurate measurement model of integrated leadership to assess complex leadership roles of principals. This chapter validates a reflective–formative model of integrated principal leadership practices (IPLP) to assist educational leadership researchers who employ PLS-SEM in their research. Using a cross-sectional survey method, data was collected from a sample of 375 teachers. Results revealed that convergent and discriminant validity were confirmed for the first-order constructs. Findings further showed that formative measurement model of integrated principal leadership practices with two formative indicators was achieved. Based on the results, conceptualization of integrated principal leadership practices as a reflective–formative hierarchical component model is established. Integrated principal leadership practices can be perceived as a higher order construct. The validated instrument can be used to measure complex roles and daily practices of school principals, especially in the Asian context.
