Abstract

The aim of the chapter is to evaluate the impact of the macroeconomic environment on the financial situation of companies, especially on the risk of financial distress, in the Visegrad Group countries. Bankruptcy models serve as suitable tools for evaluating the financial situation of companies. Furthermore, methods for applied economics as a regression analysis, which capture the relationship between the observed variables, is used. Based on the results, selected GDP indicators and price levels in particular had the strongest impact on the financial situation of enterprises in the period under review 2005–2016. On the contrary, the unemployment rate had the weakest impact on the financial situation of companies. These results can help management in decision-making and setting up internal processes.
