Evaluation of the Cultural Intelligence Profile of Moroccan and Romanian Students

Abstract

Cultural intelligence (CQ) is a fairly new concept that describes an individual’s ability to act effectively in different cultural contexts. This concept has emerged as a necessity, determined by the fact that over the last 20 years the number of people who have come into direct contact with other cultures has increased considerably [14]. Taking as a framework the four-dimensional concept of CQ proposed by [12], our study analyzes the cultural intelligence profile of students from two countries, Romania and Morocco. The data (N = 362) for this study were collected using questionnaires administered to students in economics and management in Romania and Morocco. The purpose of the study is to identify the student’s CQ profile and to find if there are significant differences and similarities between the two groups, taking into account recent studies indicating that CQ varies from country to country [1]. Our comparative work has highlighted a score for the lowest knowledge variable for both countries, which leads us to include training and coaching on interculturality for both trainees initially, but also for managers in continuing training or team building.
