Abstract

The tools of the internet can become valuable assets in the permanent competition that exists in an area that generates a constant competitive market. The medical market, specifically that of dentistry, in a frontier city in full economic development, Oradea, Romania is subject to the rules of free market. Professional competence must be complemented by a communication effort that must reach a large number of people, in order to transform them into loyal patients. Physicians can benefit from the expertise of specialized companies in medical marketing for the creation of websites, but they can also use accessible instruments such as Facebook. A comparative study on a 3-year period, 2015–2018, which aims to examine the online presence and the use of communication tools for all the registered dentists in Oradea, Romania, reveals insignificant variation of resources used such as websites or Facebook. Policy and managerial implications are discussed.
