Abstract

The tourism industry is embedded in a digital paradigm that poses significant challenges. This paradigm was triggered by the fourth industrial revolution and the added value of its principles and technological pillars, specifically artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, and the internet of things. Despite some implications being expected for the tourism industry, the overall impact of this emerging paradigm in service-oriented industries lacks discussion. Thus, the goal is to conduct a systematic review based on bibliometric analyses of the available literature identified in SCOPUS and WOS databases. Of 1120 documents, 103 were considered. This chapter examines the complex interaction between these fields, breaking down the synergies between tourism and industry 4.0. It also serves as a road map to navigate the future of tourism.
