Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to present a case-study of how an Argentine steelplant built in 1943 has evolved in the 34 years since then and to exemplify a theme which is of common interest and relevance in many Latin American countries, namely how firms owning industrial plants can manage to adapt and evolve them in the face of a ‘macroeconomic’ context which is full of economic distortions and irrationalities.
