Abstract

The Korean economy has been one of the success stories of post-war economic development. Starting from the ashes of Korean War as a typical developing nation with per capita income of less than US$100 in 1960s, Korea transformed itself to a fast-paced industrializing economy and rose to become, by 1996, the eleventh-largest economy in the world with a per capita income of more than US$10,000.
