Abstract

Zambia is one of the poorest countries in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) with more than 80 per cent of the population living on less than two dollars a day. The country has one of the highest rates of urbanization in the region and a high proportion of people living in informal settlements in peri-urban areas. Raising levels of access to water and sanitation in these areas is a key policy objective.
