Abstract

Este texto revisa los principales modelos de AEPI a la luz de la evidencia internacional y nacional disponible acerca de su efectividad. Durante las últimas décadas, la AEPI ha progresado mucho en el país. Destacan, como aspectos positivos, el reconocimiento de la primera infancia como una prioridad del Estado en varios documentos de política vigentes, así como el incremento en las tasas de cobertura en educación inicial, sobre todo en el caso de niños de 4 y 5 años, y el hecho de que esto se haya logrado sin que actualmente se observen brechas de género.
