Abstract

National parks have public good characteristics. A basic principle that underlies the economics of public goods is that the pricing of a pure public good is inefficient because a price would ration the use of the public good which is by its nature non-excludable. A case is presented why national parks, which having public good characteristics, is not a pure public good, and thus further pricing of the entrance to a national park is not inefficient.
