Abstract

Now that the idea of technological innovation had been constructed, and the concept of innovation policy too, it was time to act. This chapter studies the emergence of innovation policies and strategies. It also documents the coining of new X-innovation terms in policy documents, giving a historical perspective to the fashionable terms used today (social innovation, public innovation, and so on).
