Innovationstreiber Kfz-Unternehmen: Eine Analyse der Patentanmeldungen in Deutschland für die Jahre 2005 bis 2016

Abstract

Dieser Beitrag analysiert die Patentaktivität deutscher Unternehmen im Kfz-Bereich. Dies geschieht auf Basis der IW-Patentdatenbank, die alle offengelegten Patentanmeldungen beim Deutschen Patent- und Markenamt (DPMA) seit 2005 abdeckt. Die Kfz-Unternehmen nehmen in Deutschland eine Schlüsselposition bei der Innovationstätigkeit ein. Gut 47 Prozent der Patentanmeldungen von juristischen Personen (Unternehmen) beim DPMA beschäftigten sich 2016 mit Kraftfahrzeugen. Auch die technologischen Schwerpunkte der Forschung im Kfz-Bereich können identifiziert werden. Hier haben Patentanmeldungen mit Bezug zu Elektronik und Digitalisierung inzwischen das größte Gewicht. Ferner wurden Analysen zur räumlichen Verteilung der Anmeldungen und zur soziodemografischen Struktur der Erfinder im Jahr 2016 durchgeführt. Ergänzt werden diese Analysen um eine Zeitreihenbetrachtung ab 2005 für ausgewählte Aspekte. Diese zeigen beispielsweise, dass die Kfz-Unternehmen ihre Patentleistung seit 2005 um etwa 70 Prozent gesteigert haben, während die Gesamtzahl der Anmeldungen stagnierte.
