Abstract

Die Erholung der Wiener Wirtschaft von der COVID-19-Krise war 2021 trotz neuerlicher pandemiebedingter Einschränkungen der Geschäftstätigkeit im Frühjahr und zu Jahresende äußerst kräftig. Strukturelle Vorteile aus der Erholung des internationalen Dienstleistungshandels und aus Rebound-Effekten in konsumorientierten Tertiärbereichen ließen ein Wachstum von real +5,3% zu, was trotz negativer Basiseffekte einen Wachstumsvorsprung von 0,9 Prozentpunkten gegenüber Österreich bedeutete. Damit expandierte auch die Beschäftigung in Wien mit +3,2% deutlich rascher als in Österreich (+2,5%), die Arbeitslosenquote ging um 2,4 Prozentpunkte auf 12,7% zurück. 2022 dürfte sich der Wachstumspfad der Wiener Wirtschaft aufgrund der Konsequenzen des russischen Angriffskrieges auf die Ukraine auf +3,7% (Österreich +4,0%) abflachen. Ein Beschäftigungsanstieg von noch +2,0% könnte dennoch ausreichen, um die Wiener Arbeitslosenquote auf 11,3% und damit unter das Vorkrisenniveau zurückzuführen.
