Bericht zur Wiener Wirtschaft 2024. Konjunktur, Arbeitsmarkt und ökologische Transformation

Abstract

Die längste Rezessionsphase der Zweiten Republik bremst auch die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung Wiens. Die reale Bruttowertschöpfung trat im Jahr 2024 nur auf der Stelle (+0,0%), entwickelte sich damit aber trotzdem besser als in Österreich (–0,9%). Der Wiener Arbeitsmarkt konnte ein höheres Beschäftigungswachstum (+1,1%) als der österreichische Durchschnitt (+0,2%) verbuchen, was einerseits auf die geringe Lokalisation der stark von der Wirtschaftskrise betroffenen Sachgütererzeugung, andererseits aber auch auf eine gegenüber der Krise höhere Resilienz der Mehrheit der Branchen in Wien als im Rest des Bundesgebietes zurückzuführen ist. Für das Jahr 2025 erwartet die Prognose für Wien weiterhin eine überdurchschnittlich günstige Entwicklung mit einem Wachstum der Bruttowertschöpfung um 0,5% (Österreich +0,4%) und der Beschäftigung um 0,6% (Österreich +0,4%). Erfolge kann die Stadtwirtschaft auch auf ihrem Weg der ökologischen Transformation verbuchen: Pro beschäftigter Person konnte der energetische Endverbrauch in der letzten Dekade um mehr als ein Viertel reduziert werden. Im Jahr 2023 lag er damit nur etwa halb so hoch wie im Bundesdurchschnitt.
