Die Ertragslage des Bankensystems in Österreich und Deutschland

Abstract

Durch die Vereinheitlichung der Wettbewerbsbedingungen auf den Finanzmärkten wurden innerhalb wie außerhalb des Kreises der EU-Länder grundlegende Veränderungen der Banken- und Finanzmarktstrukturen ausgelöst. Das zwingt auch im österreichischen Bankwesen zu Strukturanpassungen und strategischen Neuorientierungen, wenn der Standort Österreich als Finanzplatz wettbewerbsfähig bleiben will. Vor allem erhöht die stärkere internationale Integration der Finanzmärkte den Druck auf die Erträge der Anbieter von Finanzdienstleistungen. Die Studie versucht, Bestimmungsfaktoren der Ertragskraft österreichischer Banken herauszuarbeiten. Als Ansatzpunkt wurde ein Vergleich mit Deutschland gewählt, wo – bei durchaus ähnlichen gesamtwirtschaftlichen und bankbetrieblichen Rahmenbedingungen – die Ertragslage als traditionell günstiger gilt.
