Abstract

Die österreichische Wirtschaft wuchs im III. Quartal 2013 mäßig; unterjährig verstärkte sich die Dynamik aber etwas. Nach dem Rückgang im I. Quartal weist die WIFO-Schnellschätzung für das IV. Quartal 2013 einen Zuwachs von +0,9% aus. Die Beschäftigung ist gekennzeichnet von einer gemessen an der Wertschöpfungsentwicklung relativ robusten Zunahme. Allerdings erhöht sich das Arbeitskräfteangebot wesentlich stärker als die Nachfrage. In Summe ergibt sich daher eine weitere Zunahme der Arbeitslosenquote, die auch durch eine deutliche Ausweitung der Schulungsmaßnahmen nicht vollständig abgefedert werden kann. Regional zeigt sich seit längerer Zeit ein grobes Ost-West-Gefälle: Die Ostregion ist geprägt von geringerer Beschäftigungsdynamik (mit Ausnahme des Burgenlandes) sowie einer tendenziell deutlich höheren Arbeitslosenquote.
