Las nuevas tecnologías y el crecimiento económico en España

Abstract

Este libro presenta un análisis del impacto que las Nuevas Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) han tenido sobre el crecimiento económico español más reciente. Su contenido se centra en la interrogante de si el fenómeno de las TIC merece alcanzar la calificación de revolución tecnológica en consonancia con las revoluciones económicas del pasado o, por el contrario, debe circunscribirse a un episodio transitorio de un alcance mucho más limitado. En este estudio se utilizan, por primera vez, las nuevas series sobre stock de capital elaboradas por un equipo de investigadores del Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Económicas (Ivie) y de la Universidad de Valencia, en colaboración con la Fundación BBVA. Esta información permite analizar el efecto que produce la utilización creciente de tres tipos de activos TIC sobre el output , la productividad del trabajo y la productividad total de los factores de cada una de las 29 ramas en las que se desagrega el conjunto de la economía española. El trabajo examina también, de forma sistemática, el conjunto disponible de indicadores de uso TIC, lo que permite realizar comparaciones internacionales sobre el grado de implantación en España de las nuevas tecnologías. Esta publicación busca contribuir a la mejora del conocimiento de la realidad económica española, proporcionando nueva información estadística sobre un factor determinante para el crecimiento a comienzos del siglo XXI.
