Abstract

Provenir de un hogar del estrato socioeconómico más bajo no debe condenarnos a vivir en esa situación el resto de nuestra vida. Nacer en cuna acomodada tampoco debe ser determinante en asegurar la permanencia en el privilegiado sector. Por el contrario, las condiciones sociales e institucionales deben estar dadas para que cada individuo suba o baje en la escala social tanto como su talento y esfuerzo lo permitan. Desafortunadamente, México es una sociedad en la que la movilidad social tiene mínimas posibilidades de ocurrir y en la cual la desigualdad socioeconómica persiste. El presente estudio, bajo el sello del Centro de Estudios Espinosa Yglesias (CEEY), recopila una serie de artículos que analizan a profundidad, con diferentes métodos y con ópticas distintas, la baja ?a veces nula? movilidad social que prevalece en México y que parece no dar tregua.
