Abstract

Dass das Leben von Risiken und Wahrscheinlichkeiten geprägt ist, entspricht unserer persönlichen täglichen Erfahrung. Weder für die individuelle Existenz noch für die des Planeten gelten sichere Perspektiven. Doch ist diese Erkenntnis auch in den Wissenschaften angekommen? Die Naturwissenschaften haben, dank Relativitätstheorie und Teilchenphysik, ein komplexes Verständnis von Wahrheit erlangt. Den Sozialwissenschaften, auch seiner eigenen Disziplin, den Internationalen Beziehungen, wirft Peter J. Katzenstein aber vor, immer noch zu mechanistisch zu argumentieren.
