Was ist die D-Mark im Osten Deutschlands wert?

Abstract

Der Aufsatz untersucht die Entwicklung der relativen Kaufkraft der privaten Haushalte in Ostdeutschland im Vergleich zu Westdeutschland von 1991 bis 1995. Für einen gleich hohen Verbrauch von Waren und Dienstleistungen in Höhe von 100 D-Mark in Westdeutschland brauchten die Privathaushalte in Ostdeutschland im Jahr 1991 nur rund 76 DM auszugeben, im Jahr 1995 mussten sie dafür bereits 91 DM aufwenden. Dieser regionale Unterschied der relativen Kaufkraft ist hauptsächlich auf bestehende Subventionen für Waren und Dienstleistungen mit staatlich administrierten Verbraucherpreisen in den neuen Bundesländern zurückzuführen.
