Modeling and optimization of integration processes using dynamic programming

Abstract

Incremental integration of systems is investigated. The modeling problem to predict the properties (cost and duration) of a given integration process, and the optimization problem to find the optimal integration order are addressed. The proposed integration model is divided into two parts: a time duration effort model and a cost effort model. Both models accumulate the major cost elements and time durations involved with the integration process. Dynamic Programming is employed to find the time and effort optimal integration orders. The methodology is demonstrated by a small tactical missile integration process. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Syst Eng
