Imperfect repair models for systems subject to shocks

Abstract

The performance of a repairable system subject to shocks is investigated. Each shock with a probability that depends on a virtual age of the effected system causes a breakdown that ends the process of system functioning. Various models of repair, ranging from minimal till perfect repair are studied. It is assumed that shocks occur according to the non‐homogeneous Poisson process or a renewal process with identically distributed cycles. The probability of a system functioning without breakdowns for the mentioned models is derived. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
