The important role of agribusiness education to the international competitiveness of Australia

Abstract

Australia, with its bountiful resources, has been referred to historically as a place where bad businessmen could survive. No longer is this true, particularly in agribusiness. Needed education has been too limited, too farm-oriented, and too lacking in coordination among educational institutions, especially agricultural and business schools. Recently an open dialogue on this issue has developed by those in education, industry, and government. This is encouraging, and this conference can build on that. Thus, the conference is important and timely.
