Abschätzung der Verringerung der Treibhausgasemissionen aufgrund des Konjunktureinbruchs

Abstract

Die österreichische Volkswirtschaft ist weit davon entfernt, klimaneutral zu sein. Im Jahr 2019 wurden 80,4 Mio. t Treibhausgase ausgestoßen. Das Ziel ist, binnen 20 Jahren diesen Wert netto auf Null zu senken. Im Jahr 2040 sollen nicht mehr Treibhausgase ausgestoßen werden, als natürliche und technische Speicher aufnehmen können. Die Maßnahmen zur Begrenzung der Folgen der COVID-19-Pandemie haben einen starken Rückgang von Produktion und Konsum in nahezu allen Ländern zur Folge. Dies hat auch Auswirkungen auf die Emissionen. Auf Basis der aktuellen WIFO-Prognose zur Entwicklung der österreichischen Wirtschaft dürften die Treibhausgasemissionen wegen des Konjunktureinbruchs im Jahr 2020 um 9,9% abnehmen. Daraus lassen sich Rückschlüsse hinsichtlich der für 2020 gesteckten Etappenziele zur Verringerung der Emissionen ziehen.
