Zweiter COVID-19-Lockdown dämpft Wirtschaftsleistung

Abstract

Da im III. Quartal die Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung der COVID-19-Pandemie gelockert wurden, erholte sich die Weltwirtschaft. Der negative Zusammenhang zwischen Lockdown-Intensität und Wirtschaftswachstum schwächte sich aber ab. Vielmehr erwies sich das Ausmaß des vorangegangenen Wirtschaftseinbruchs als guter Indikator für die Stärke des Rebound. Dieser fiel in Österreich noch deutlicher aus als erwartet, insbesondere der Handel erholte sich rasch. Sowohl international als auch in Österreich ist die Sachgütererzeugung vom zweiten Lockdown weniger empfindlich betroffen als vom ersten. Die Unternehmensstimmung verschlechterte sich im November allerdings, und die Arbeitslosigkeit nahm zu.
