Abstract

Kapitalströme von "reichen" zu "armen" Ländern werden durch eine rasche Annäherung von Rechtssystem und politischem Ordnungsgefüge an das Referenzsystem der reichen Regionen begünstigt. Dadurch werden Friktionen in Form von Informations- und Transaktionskosten verringert und die institutionellen Risiken grenzüberschreitender Aktivitäten für die Kapitalgeber aus den reichen Ländern gesenkt. Die verstärkte grenzüberschreitende Kreditgewährung österreichischer Banken an Unternehmen und private Haushalte in den östlichen Nachbarländern hängt ursächlich mit dem aktiven Bestreben dieser Länder zusammen, ihr Rechtssystem sowie die politischen und wirtschaftlichen Strukturen und Institutionen möglichst rasch an die Standards der Europäischen Union anzugleichen.
