Abstract

Im IV. Quartal 2008 verringerte sich das Bruttoinlandsprodukt saison- und arbeitstätig bereinigt gegenüber dem Vorquartal real um 0,2%. Der Konjunkturabschwung hat die exportorientierte Sachgütererzeugung voll erfasst, Produktion, Kapazitätsauslastung und Auftragseingänge liegen markant unter den Werten vom Sommer 2008. Weder die Entwicklung bei den wichtigsten Handelspartnern noch die Ergebnisse des WIFO-Konjunkturtests vom Jänner 2009 lassen eine bevorstehende Konjunkturerholung in der heimischen Industrie erwarten. Die Wertschöpfung der Bauwirtschaft schwächt sich bislang nur mäßig ab. Die Konsumnachfrage der privaten Haushalte nimmt weiterhin langsam zu, und im Tourismus begann die Wintersaison gut. Dennoch zeigt sich der Konjunkturabschwung bereits deutlich in wichtigen wirtschaftspolitischen Variablen: Die Zahl der Arbeitslosen steigt markant, die Inflationsrate verringert sich deutlich.
