Abstract

Das robuste Wirtschaftswachstum in den neuen EU-Ländern wurde 2005 vor allem durch die kräftige Exportexpansion aufgrund von Qualitätsverbesserungen getragen. Die weitgehend abgeschlossene Umstrukturierung der Industrie hatte erstmals eine leichte Entspannung auf dem Arbeitsmarkt dieser Länder zur Folge. In Südosteuropa war das Wachstum insbesondere auf den Konsumboom zurückzuführen, der allerdings auch mit einer rasanten Zunahme der privaten Auslandsverschuldung einherging. Die Westbalkanländer profitieren zunehmend von größerer politischer Stabilität und verbesserten Aussichten für die EU-Integration. Gleichzeitig bleiben Russland und die Ukraine trotz des jüngsten Anstiegs der Zuflüsse an ausländischen Direktinvestitionen von der Weltmarktkonjunktur für ihre Hauptexportprodukte Energie und Metalle abhängig.
