Regionale Konjunktur weist 2003 West-Ost-Gefälle auf

Abstract

Die anhaltende Konjunkturschwäche konzentrierte sich 2003 auf den Osten Österreichs, wo die Bruttowertschöpfung kaum über eine Stagnation hinauskam (+0,4%). Im Süden erholte sich die Wirtschaft vor allem im Sommer 2003 etwas (+0,8%). Weiterhin kräftig wuchs sie im Westen Österreichs (+1,6%; Österreich-Durchschnitt +0,9%). Die Konjunkturflaute hatte in Wien und in den anderen Großstädten einen Rückgang der Beschäftigung und einen relativ starken Anstieg der Arbeitslosigkeit zur Folge. Nur in Oberösterreich und Kärnten sowie in den ländlichen Regionen nahm die Arbeitslosigkeit nicht zu. Oberösterreich weist auch die niedrigste Arbeitslosenquote auf, während diese in Wien mittlerweile am höchsten ist.
