Konjunkturerholung lässt weiter auf sich warten

Abstract

Die aktuellen Konjunkturindikatoren lassen keinen Wirtschaftsaufschwung erkennen. Die WIFO-Konjunkturumfrage für das I. Quartal spiegelt in der Sachgütererzeugung die große Unsicherheit in den Erwartungen über die weltpolitische und wirtschaftliche Entwicklung wider. Das Geschäftsklima hat sich gegenüber dem Vorquartal etwas verschlechtert. Relativ günstig entwickelt sich der Export, er überstieg das Vorjahresergebnis im Herbst 2002 um 6½%. Die Binnennachfrage hingegen bleibt schwach. Der Einzelhandel wuchs im 2. Halbjahr saisonbereinigt kaum, nur im Handel mit dauerhaften Konsumgütern zeichnet sich eine leichte Belebung ab. In der Bauwirtschaft dürfte dank verbesserter Auftragslage im Tiefbau der Tiefpunkt überschritten sein. Aufgrund der Flaute der Inlandsnachfrage gehen die Importe weiter zurück; dies trägt zum Verschwinden des Leistungsbilanzdefizits wesentlich bei. Der Preisauftrieb ist weiterhin schwach. Auf dem Arbeitsmarkt ist keine Entlastung zu erkennen.
