Schleppende Belebung in der EU trotz kräftiger Impulse aus den USA

In Europa kommt der Konjunkturaufschwung nur sehr langsam in Gang. Wesentliche Impulse liefert die Entwicklung in den USA, wo die Binnennachfrage – unterstützt durch eine stark expansive Wirtschaftspolitik – kräftig wächst. Hingegen bleibt die Inlandsnachfrage in Europa bislang schwach. Die Lage auf dem Arbeitsmarkt ist ungünstig, ein starker Preisauftrieb ist nicht zu beobachten. Die Risken für die EU-Konjunktur betreffen die internationale Entwicklung, aber auch die Wirtschaftspolitik. Für das Jahr 2003 sind umfangreiche Sparpakete zu erwarten, die vor allem in Deutschland die Nachfrage in einer frühen Phase des Aufschwungs schwächen könnten.
