Kräftiges Wirtschaftswachstum verliert an Dynamik. Österreichs Wirtschaft im Jahr 2000

Abstract

Die Stärke der Binnennachfrage in den USA, das lebhafte Wachstum in den MOEL und die Stabilität der Finanzmärkte hatten im Jahr 2000 eine deutliche Belebung der Außenhandelsaktivität zur Folge, von der vor allem die exportorientierte Sachgüterindustrie profitierte. Sowohl die Exportnachfrage als auch die meisten heimischen Nachfragekomponenten verloren jedoch im Jahresverlauf an Dynamik. Dank der guten Konjunktur stieg die Beschäftigung im Jahr 2000 um 0,9%, die Arbeitsproduktivität erhöhte sich kräftig. Zugleich sank die Arbeitslosigkeit deutlich. Nach einem Rekordtief von 0,6% im Jahr 1999 beschleunigte sich der Preisauftrieb im Jahr 2000 wieder erheblich (2,3%), vor allem wegen der drastischen Erdölverteuerung und der Schwäche des Euro.
