Die Entwicklung des Arbeitsvolumens und der Arbeitsproduktivität nach Branchen

Abstract

Die Zahl der Erwerbstätigen ist in Österreich in den letzten 35 Jahren schwächer gestiegen als im Durchschnitt der EU. Die Beschäftigungsentwicklung war von massiven Umschichtungen aus schrumpfenden in expandierende Branchen geprägt, neue Arbeitsplätze wurden vor allem im öffentlichen Sektor geschaffen. Die Jahresarbeitszeit je Erwerbstätigen hat sich in diesem Zeitraum stark verringert und ist derzeit etwas niedriger als im EU-Durchschnitt. Das Jahresarbeitsvolumen lag im Jahr 1999 um 12% bis 15% unter dem Vergleichswert von 1964. Dennoch hat sich die Wertschöpfung in dieser Periode mehr als verdoppelt. Die Arbeitsproduktivität ist etwas höher als im EU-Durchschnitt, jedoch um 5% bis 10% niedriger als in den USA.
