Anhaltender Konjunkturaufschwung lässt Arbeitslosigkeit sinken

Abstract

Der Konjunkturaufschwung hat sich in Österreich seit Jahresbeginn verstärkt und lässt die Arbeitslosigkeit immer deutlicher zurückgehen. Die Sachgüterproduktion wurde im Jänner gegenüber dem Vorjahr um 8% ausgeweitet, die Einzelhandelsumsätze real um 4%. Die optimistische Haltung der Unternehmen laut Umfragen kündigt eine weitere Verbesserung im Laufe des 1. Halbjahres 2000 an. Der Arbeitsmarkt reagiert sehr stark auf das erhöhte Wirtschaftswachstum: Die Zahl der Beschäftigten nimmt kräftig zu, und die Arbeitslosenquote geht deutlicher als erwartet zurück. Die Inflationsrate wurde durch den rasanten Anstieg der Rohölpreise in die Höhe getrieben, zuletzt hat sich der Preisauftrieb jedoch beruhigt.
