Heimische Konjunktur deutlich im Aufwind

Abstract

Die heimische Konjunktur befindet sich im Aufwind. Im Jänner und Februar 1998 produzierte die Industrie um rund 6½% mehr als im Vorjahr, getragen von der Nachfrage nach Vorleistungen und Investitionsgütern. Die WIFO-Unternehmensumfragen deuten darauf hin, daß sich dieser Wachstumskurs im weiteren Jahresverlauf fortsetzen wird: Die Produktionserwartungen sind bereits höher als im Aufschwungsjahr 1994. Die gute Konjunktur ließ die Beschäftigung im Frühjahr kräftig steigen. Die Arbeitslosigkeit sinkt dadurch jedoch nicht, die Nachfrage nach zusätzlichen Beschäftigten wird aus der "stillen Arbeitsmarktreserve" befriedigt.
