Konjunkturaufschwung läßt Industrieproduktion und Beschäftigung kräftig wachsen. Prognose für 1998 und 1999

Abstract

Die Konjunkturbelebung, die Mitte 1996 begonnen hat, setzt sich weiter fort. Nachfrage und Produktion expandieren 1998 und 1999 real um 2¾% bzw. 3%. Der dynamische Warenexport profitiert von anhaltendem Marktwachstum und einer kontinuierlichen Verbesserung der preisbestimmten Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der österreichischen Exporteure, er bildet weiterhin einen wichtigen Konjunkturmotor und entlastet gemeinsam mit dem Verfall der Rohölpreise Handels- und Leistungsbilanz. Allmählich gewinnt die Inlandsnachfrage an Schwung. Angesichts der günstigen Kosten- und Nachfrageentwicklung verstärken die Unternehmen ihre Investitionen. Das anziehende Wachstum der verfügbaren Einkommen ermöglicht eine Ausweitung der Konsumnachfrage. Mit wachsender Güter- und Dienstleistungsnachfrage steigt auch der Bedarf an Arbeitskräften: Die Zahl der unselbständig Beschäftigten (ohne Präsenzdiener und Bezieher von Karenzurlaubsgeld) steigt in beiden Prognosejahren um knapp 30.000. Gleichzeitig nimmt 1998 aufgrund der erheblichen Ausweitung des Arbeitskräfteangebotes die Arbeitslosigkeit noch leicht zu.
