Erfolgreicher Strukturwandel in der Steiermark

Abstract

Die Entwicklung der steirischen Wirtschaft in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten kann als die Geschichte einer regionalen Sanierung geschrieben werden. Beschränkt man sich auf die Entwicklung der Beschäftigung, so läßt sich das Gesamtbild eines mehr als 30jährigen Sanierungsprozesses zeichnen, an dessen vorläufigem Ende in der Steiermark mehr neue Arbeitsplätze geschaffen wurden als in jedem anderen Bundesland. Die Dauer dieses Prozesses muß als der normale Zeitbedarf der Sanierung einer Wirtschaftsregion gesehen werden. Die Diskrepanz zwischen politischer Legitimierung und evolutorischem Strukturwandel ist das eigentliche Problem der Regionalpolitik.
