Erste Bewertung des Transitvertrags

Abstract

In einem Ende 1997 erstellten Bericht beurteilt die EU-Kommission die Maßnahmen des Transitvertrags als wirksames Mittel zur Senkung der Umweltbelastungen aus dem Lkw-Transitverkehr durch Österreich. Trotz Plafondierung des Gesamttransits hat aber der Lkw-Verkehr auf der Brenner-Route weiter zugenommen. Vor Ablauf des Transitabkommens, spätestens aber Ende 2003 sollten Maßnahmen festgelegt werden, die das Problem der Verkehrsbelastung in der sensiblen Alpenregion nachhaltig lösen.
