Belebung der Exportkonjunktur stabilisiert Leistungsbilanz

Abstract

Die Konjunktur hat sich in Österreich im Frühjahr und Sommer weiter erholt. Die Exporte konnten im 1. Halbjahr um 11% gesteigert werden. Dazu trugen die Verbesserung der europäischen Konjunktur, die Aufwertung der Währungen wichtiger Handelspartner und sinkende Lohnstückkosten der Industrie wesentlich bei. Die Belebung der Exporte hat die Leistungsbilanz stabilisiert, sie dürfte sich heuer gegenüber dem Vorjahr – trotz der Tourismuskrise – nicht weiter verschlechtern. Die Inlandsnachfrage bleibt jedoch weiterhin schwach und beeinträchtigt die Geschäftstätigkeit vor allem im Handel und in der Bauwirtschaft. Auf dem Arbeitsmarkt zeichnet sich ein allmählicher konjunkturbedingter Anstieg der Beschäftigung ab, der jedoch bisher nicht ausreicht, um eine Wende in der Entwicklung der Arbeitslosigkeit herbeizuführen.
