Zögernde Konjunkturbelebung in Westeuropa. Die Konjunktur in den westlichen Industriestaaten

Abstract

Mit 2% bis 2½% im Zeitraum 1997/98 entspricht das projizierte Wirtschaftswachstum in den OECD-Staaten etwa dem Durchschnitt der letzten drei Jahre. Dennoch ist in Japan und Westeuropa eine allmähliche Belebung der Konjunktur zu erwarten. Sie wird in erster Linie vom Export und den privaten Investitionen getragen. Die hohe strukturelle Arbeitslosigkeit in Europa kann vorerst freilich kaum abgebaut werden. Der Preisauftrieb wird sich allenfalls geringfügig beschleunigen. Wegen der Vorbereitungen auf die Europäische Währungsunion sind die Aussichten für Europa mit einem unüblich hohen Risikospielraum verbunden.
