Ökonomische Aspekte des Glücksspiels

Abstract

Die Palette der Glücksspiele reicht von den verschiedenen Lotterien und Sportwetten ("Lotterie- und Gewinnspiele") bis zu den von den Casinos angebotenen Spielen ("Casinospiele"). In Österreich erzielte der Glücksspielsektor 1995 einen Brutto-Produktionswert von 12,3 Mrd. S; das waren rund 3% der in Österreich insgesamt getätigten Freizeitausgaben. Die Bruttoproduktion der Lotterien und der Casinos erreichte ein Volumen von 8 Mrd. S bzw. 3,8 Mrd. S. Für 1995 errechnet sich für die gesamte Glücksspielbranche eine Brutto-Wertschöpfung von 9,2 Mrd. S. Der Beitrag zum Brutto-Inlandsprodukt machte etwa 0,4% aus. In regionalökonomischer Sicht sind Casinos wichtige Elemente des Tourismusangebotes. Sie sind Kommunikationsträger und setzen oft als Leitbetriebe Impulse für die regionale Entwicklung. Große Bedeutung haben auch die regionalen Beschäftigungswirkungen der Casinos und die überdurchschnittlichen Steuererträge aus dem Glücksspiel.
