Anhaltende Preissteigerung der Industrierohstoffe 1995

Abstract

1994 waren Industrierohstoffe auf dem Weltmarkt um durchschnittlich 17% teurer als im Vorjahr (auf Dollarbasis), für 1995 wird eine weitere Preissteigerung um 24% erwartet. Haupttriebkräfte dieser Entwicklung sind neben dem Konjunkturaufschwung Ernteausfälle und geplante Produktionskürzungen sowie teilweise stark reduzierte Bestände. Eine Abschwächung der internationalen Konjunktur würde die Nachfrage nach Industrierohstoffen und damit deren Preisentwicklung dämpfen. Für 1996 wird nur noch ein Preisanstieg von 5% erwartet. Besonders stark verteuern sich 1995 Nickel, Aluminium und Kupfer: Das Produktionsdefizit der westlichen Länder dürfte durch Nettoexporte aus den Oststaaten nicht kompensiert werden. Unter den agrarischen Industrierohstoffen verzeichnet Zellstoff die höchste Preissteigerung, aber auch Wolle wird aufgrund von Produktionsbeschränkungen deutlich teurer. Baumwolle dürfte 1996 wegen der zunehmenden Substitution durch synthetische Fasern und wegen der Ausweitung der Anbauflächen sogar billiger werden (–11%). Die österreichischen Importpreise stiegen (auf Schillingbasis) aufgrund der Wechselkursentwicklung schwächer (1994 +8,5%) als die Weltmarktpreise. Ähnlich wie auf dem Weltmarkt verteuerten sich besonders Zellstoff, Schnittholz, Aluminium, Blei und Nickel.
