Industrierohstoffpreise erholen sich stärker als erwartet. Entwicklung und Prognose der Weltmarktpreise von Industrierohstoffen

Abstract

Unerwartet rasch stiegen 1994 die Industrierohstoffpreise auf dem Weltmarkt: Mit +16% im Durchschnitt der ersten drei Quartale machten sie den Rückgang des Vorjahres (–14%) mehr als wett. Am ausgeprägtesten war die Preisumkehr für agrarische Industrierohstoffe, insbesondere Schnittholz und Zellstoff (Angebotsverknappung). Die Baumwollpreise wurden vor allem durch die starke Nachfrage Chinas, Indiens und Pakistans hochgetrieben (Aufkäufe nach Ernteeinbußen durch Wetter- und Insektenschäden). Gezielte Kürzungen der Produktion von NE?Metallen trafen auf eine steigende Nachfragedynamik und einen Lageraufbau – Preissteigerungen von 15% waren die Folge. Für 1995 wird mit einem Anhalten des Preisanstiegs gerechnet: Industrierohstoffe werden sich weiter verteuern (+17%), weil die optimistischen Konjunkturerwartungen die Nachfrage verstärken. Wie 1994 dürfte das Rohstoffangebot der Oststaaten das Produktionsdefizit in den westlichen Ländern nicht schließen können.
