Neue Funktion des österreichischen Transithandels

Abstract

Als Transithandel wird die Vermittlungstätigkeit Österreichs im internationalen Warenhandel bezeichnet. In der Vergangenheit trug der österreichische Transithandel hauptsächlich zur Überwindung der Ost-West-Spaltung bei. Nach dem politischen Umbruch in Osteuropa ist es ihm gelungen, neue Funktionen zu finden und zu erfüllen. Dazu zählen insbesondere die Vermittlung des Intra-Osthandels sowie die Übernahme der Großhandelsfunktion für neue Privatunternehmen in den Oststaaten. Die österreichischen Transitexporte erreichten 1993 90 Mrd. S, die Transitimporte 80 Mrd. S. Der Transithandel ist ein wichtiger Aktivposten der österreichischen Leistungsbilanz, der Saldo deckt etwa 10% des Handelsbilanzdefizits ab. Die Relation der Transitexporte zu den Warenexporten stieg von 2% bis 3% Anfang der sechziger Jahre auf 7% bis 8% Anfang der siebziger Jahre und auf 18% bis 19% in den neunziger Jahren.
